Frequently Asked Questions

Which commercial plan is right for us?

Choose Business (Scale) if your organisation has up to 250 employees and you want to buy online on standard terms. Choose Enterprise above 250 employees, or at any size if you need federation, a negotiated contract, or tailored onboarding and support.

Are employees the same as paid seats?

No. EventCatalog brings value across your organisation, including engineers, architects, business analysts, product managers and others who need to understand how your systems and business processes connect. We use employee count to reflect that wider organisational value when pricing commercial plans. It refers to your organisation’s total employees, not paid seats or the number of people using EventCatalog. Every plan includes unlimited readers and resources, so everyone can benefit without a per-user charge.

Can a large company still use Community for free?

Yes. Community is open source and free for internal company use at any organisation size. The 250-employee threshold applies to the Business (Scale) commercial plan.

What happens when we grow beyond 250 employees?

Let us know before your next renewal so we can agree an Enterprise licence for the next subscription term. Adding readers or documenting more resources never triggers an upgrade.

What is included in a commercial licence?

Business (Scale) adds automated documentation, all official integrations, breaking-change detection, custom documentation, pages and APIs, MCP and AI features, updates and standard support. Enterprise adds federation, with licence scope, services and support agreed for your organisation.

How does monthly and annual billing work?

Business (Scale) is $499 per month billed monthly, or $449 per month billed upfront at $5,388 per year. Annual billing saves $600 compared with paying monthly. Enterprise has custom annual pricing, with licence, services and invoicing agreed upfront.

Can we self-host?

Yes. Every plan is self-hosted. Keep your architecture documentation in your own infrastructure and your content in Git.

Do you support custom contracts and procurement?

Choose Enterprise for a negotiated contract, purchase orders, procurement support or agreed invoicing. Business (Scale) is available online with standard commercial licence terms.
